Leonardo da Vinci was born in the city of Vinci in Tuscany in 1452 and was an apprentice to a Florentine painter and sculptor named Andrea del Verrocchio at the age of fifteen. Although da Vinci did not receive formal training, his early artistic talent became apparent. In 1478, he was able to become an independent master, and soon began to paint the Adoration of the Magi, one of his most famous works.

His life is reflected in his artwork. He was a polymath, an inventor, a scientist, and a painter, and his paintings are some of the most famous and influential pieces in Western art. Though some works have caused controversy, many of these works give us a glimpse of this Renaissance artist and his world. With the help of archival documents and new scientific studies, the exhibition will reveal the artist and his world.

While da Vinci’s painting techniques were very different from their contemporary counterparts, many of his works are still prized today. The Mona Lisa was purchased by King Francis I in 1516 and now hangs in the Louvre, drawing millions of visitors each year. The Battle of Anghiari mural, on the other hand, was abandoned after two years and began to deteriorate. Da Vinci never ceased to paint, and while he was painting the Mona Lisa, he was also pursuing scientific experiments and practicing botany.
