Born in Madrid, Eduardo Chicharro y Agero found his artistic vocation early on and drew as a child. A talented sculptor, Chicharro began combining his education with his artistic training. He attended the School of Arts and Crafts and studied with Balaca Mateos. His training continued at the Academy of Fine Arts in San Fernando under Jose Moreno Carbonero.
One of the most famous paintings by Spanish Realist Edurado Chicharro y Aguera is The Temptation of Buddha. Painted between 1916 and 1921, this painting is gargantuan in scale and hangs in the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid. In addition to displaying its great size, this painting also won the highest medal at the Exposicion Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1922.
