The subject matter of Albrecht Adam paintings includes nature, hunting, and animals. These subjects are often depicted in paintings with a classical or neoclassical style. In his portraits, he captured the fervor and beauty of hunting life while also portraying the joys of hunting in a landscape. Among Adam’s paintings, the carteleino, or little sign, hanging from the tree branch in his right hand, is one of his most memorable. In this sign, the artist proudly describes himself as a citizen of Nuremberg. The engravings also reveal the artist’s mastery of capturing the nuances of human skin, snake skin, animal fur, and tree bark and leaves.

Aside from his landscapes and figures, Adam also painted horses and landscapes in the late 18th century. He began his career as a battle painter and accompanied Napoleon’s march to Moscow. After the war, Albrecht returned to his native Munich where he decided to shift styles. He specialised in horse and landscape paintings, and he soon began to receive commissions to sketch royal and court noble horses. He even began sketching Arabian horses. His first painting of horses, “Horses on the Porch,” became extremely popular.
